We’ve had a busy month at Cedar, here’s some of what we’ve been up to:

Leadership Development Group 21 begins
The first week in February saw the 21st group from JSR Farms begin the Leadership Development Programme. Part 1 was an exhilarating, exhausting roller coaster ride of increasingly challenging tasks and in depth reviews. Lots if opportunities to lead, support or influence leadership, or be lead and provide valuable feedback to those who do. 4 women and 9 men from the UK, China and Estonia working for 3 farming companies on an unforgettable journey starting in Cumbria and finishing in Yorkshire in December, 4 modules later.

Introducing Supervision
Part of a longer in company programme to develop the next Sales Supervisors from their Salesmen with desire and potential. They guarantee promotion if they successfully complete the the course. All have their Blue Leadership Development Programme Polo shirts that they all proudly wear throughout the course. The second time we have been asked to contribute this 2 day part on what is now an accelerated course. Their new factory is just starting up that will eventually increase production to 1 million chickens per day so they need to grow the market and take market share. A hugely enthusiastic group, loved the practical way of enabling them to see what supervision involves. 12 of the 13 rated the course 4 out of 4, and one 3 out of 4 – happy bunnies!

A mixed group of people supervising others from Almarai’s new huge HADCo Farm. With the equivalent of 18,000 Ha under irrigation growing forage for cows 800 Kms away to dates grapes and olives. The group consists of everything from arable Operation Supervisors to Safety, HR, Accounts, Hygiene Supervisors. Mostly Philipinos, but a few well educated guys form India and Sri Lanka. Keen to learn and get hands on. Many find it hard to let go and let other do things, a bit of a problem on a site inside a ring fence, where they talk to travelling 40 Kms to another part of the farm!
