Lindsay Muir

Lindsay Muir PhotoLindsay’s sound knowledge of management is built on his extensive experience in managing large scale development projects in the Middle East over a 10 year period. Many of these enterprises, including his own export company, were grown from start up through to commercial viability.

This practical experience of project management and commercial dealing created a sound foundation for his move in 1989 to become a management trainer and consultant. Working initially for the Agricultural Training Board at their Management Training Centre, he provided services to businesses mainly engaged in primary agriculture or horticultural production.

Since setting up Cedar Associates in 1993 his work has subsequently developed into processing, packing and retail sectors. Mainly working with small to medium sized companies operating in the UK, he has also worked with large organisations in the USA and the Middle East.

Lindsay is a skilled trainer with a particular interest in creating highly interactive and innovative programmes which both deeply involve participants, and can be readily linked back to the challenges experienced at work. He is always striving to ensure that training he develops starts with a purpose – and ends with the intended result.

 

Alistair Gibb

Alistair Gibb PhotoBefore joining Cedar Associates as a consultant Alistair’s management experience spanned 12-years of running highly successful businesses in the agricultural sector. This success was down to gaining the commitment of his staff and the ability to get the best from them. He has experience in a range of business cultures having worked in the Middle East, USA and the UK. This has included managing new business start-ups as well as restructuring and turning around existing businesses.

Since joining Cedar Associates in 1999 Alistair has worked with a range of businesses in the production, service, insurance and retail sectors. Projects have included designing and providing innovative management training and coaching. The following list provides some examples:
Designed a management development programme that has improved business performance on a large nursery by cascading development down through the company’s managers and supervisors.

Developed the ILM Introductory Certificate in First Line Management for a range of businesses in the land and food based sector.

Structured a series of workshops to improve communication and motivation in a longstanding successful family business.

Put together a development programme for future managers.

Provided a variety of training courses on a large European funded project offered to a range of businesses from a specialised IT company to an exclusive golf club.

Becky Powell

Coming from a background in banking, Becky has been managing the hub that is our office in Warwickshire since 2011.  She is the friendly point of contact that our Customers, Suppliers and Associates value so much. Her pivotal role includes planning and organising courses, venues, diaries, logistics and resources for our varied programmes and events in the UK, and abroad.

A key part of Becky’s role is liaising with our diverse clients, delegates and people we are consulting with, or coaching.  She has established excellent relationships with many people around world, many of whom she has never met.

Making things happen and run smoothly is her major contribution to the success and reputation of the company.

Suzy Brown

Suzy has come from a background in shipping, logistics and administration and as the latest member of our team she is managing our office, looking after our customers and organising our courses.

She is a key part of making everything happen as it should, organising diaries, logistics and resources and booking venues and flights for events in the UK, and overseas.

 

 

Rob Kelly

Rob Kelly PhotoRob has been working as an independent training and development consultant since 1987. During this period, he has worked throughout Europe aiding clients with major business transformations.

He specialises in leadership, teambuilding, group dynamics, people development, and in using experiential development as a medium for learning. His consulting areas focus on building individual, team and leadership capabilities necessary to achieve breakthrough performance.

Much of his work has been to facilitate change through the development of people at all levels in organisations, from Boards of Directors to Factory workers.

He also has significant experience in working across cultures and in post change, post merger and post acquisition integration work.

He has worked with international companies such as ABB, AXA, BBC, Ford of Europe, HBOS, Honda, Hitachi, EMC, Volkswagen UECC and Wallenius Wilhelmsen as well. As well as with a number of international Business Schools including Henley, LBS in London, MZSG St Gallen and EAP Paris.
Rob is qualified and experienced in working with a range of Psychometric instruments including Myers Briggs Type Indicator, FIRO-B, Myers Team Roles Inventory and Belbin Self Perception Inventory.

Rob Lloyd-Jones

From a successful operational management background in both the hospitality and retail sectors, Rob is an IPD qualified learning and development professional with over fifteen years experience in management training and development.

He has worked with clients from a variety of industry sectors, in the UK and abroad, including hospitality, retail, food production, manufacturing, financial, education, the public sector and charitable organisations. Examples of blue chip organisations Rob has run development interventions for include Whitbread, Compass, NFU Mutual, the RSPCA and the NHS in the UK as well as Almarai, based in the Middle East.

Rob is highly proactive in all elements of the training cycle with the ability to deliver motivational training interventions relevant to business needs. His style of course delivery is interactive enabling participants every opportunity to apply their learning.

Nick Whiting

Nick Whiting PhotoNick Whiting is a Freelance Management Trainer & Consultant who has worked as a Cedar Associate for over 10 years. His expertise encompasses a broad range of management and interpersonal disciplines gained over 25 years experience in management and 20 years as a training professional in the UK, USA. Canada, and Ireland.
Nick has worked with a range of businesses, from large multi-nationals e.g. Corus (formally British Steel), DHL (formally EXEL), Rentokil, BMW, NFU Mutual, Ford, Doncasters, Calor Gas, Occidental Oil, to small family owned and run businesses, both in the USA and UK. He has worked with companies in the Steel, Logistics, Automotive, Agricultural, Retail, Oil, Cleaning Services, Finance, Transport, Research, Construction and Tourist industries.

He is British, Psychological Society qualified and is accredited to use MBTI, 16PF psychometric tools as well as the HayGroup, the Emotional Intelligence Inventory.

Phil Ingle

Phil has designed and run training programmes in a wide range of organisations including banks, insurance companies, defence contractors, legal services, pharmaceutical companies and a variety of other manufacturing businesses and service related sectors. He works with all levels of management to assist with implementing new skills to achieve specific business objectives, with the emphasis on practical application of learning.

His specialist areas include operational risk management for financial services, presenting medical information for pharmaceutical companies and presenting financial information. He has in addition advised clients on take overs, provided coaching and leadership skills for a law firm and trained Company Directors on their compliance responsibilities.

Prior to working as an independent Training Consultant Phil was a Project Manager in Barclays Bank, he has also been a High Street Bank Manager.
His qualifications include an MBA from Cranfield University, and he is a Master Practitioner in NLP. He also holds the Financial Planning Certificate, is Level A qualified in Psychometric Testing through the British Psychological Society, and a Graduate CIPD member. In addition he is a Member of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning, The Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Professional Speakers Association.

Philip Crisp

Philip has proven expertise in the development of people in leadership, teamwork and business skills.

After graduating Philip gained significant experience as a commissioned Officer in the British Army and then in manufacturing.  After more than four years as a senior manager in the Automobile Association he was employed for 10 years as a full time Lead Consultant and Development Manager with a focus on improving performance through people.  He worked with people at all levels to create cultures of continuous improvement, using lean team working to improve customer focus and reduce waste from business processes.

In recent years Philip has provided coaching to directors and senior managers in large organisations as well as owners of high growth businesses.

Philip has helped many clients achieve significant improvements.  Sectors include engineering (including agricultural machinery); construction; retail (including fresh produce supply chain; garden centres and point of sale); software development; financial services; and healthcare.

In addition to being a Chartered Manager, a Fellow of the Institute of Consultants and a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, Philip is qualified and experienced in a range of Psychometric instruments including 16PF5, Myers Briggs Type Indicator and FIRO-B.

Howie Crook

Howie has specialised in experiential development training for the last 20 years with a particular focus on personal development, leadership and change.

He has extensive experience of directing change programmes at all organisational levels, backed up by international experience in the Thailand, Japan, America and widely across Europe.

Bringing a pragmatic and highly results focused to our team. His belief is that change is  driven by firstly being absolutely clear in what you are trying to achieve, then by creating  engaging initiatives which allow powerful conversations that give shape and clarity to move  forwards. “The focus has to be the end result, all too often programmes get lost as the focus becomes the model, methodology or trainers ego rather than what’s happening and where we want to get to.”

Howie is qualified and experienced in working with a range of development tools.

Examples of some of the many organisations Howie has worked with include: Bass, Bovis, HBOS, Honda, Marsa, Mercedes, ScottishPower, Skanska, Standard Life, Sun Micro systems, TDI, UBS and Van Dem Burgh. Howard has also delivered a number of experiential development modules at the INSEAD international Business School.

 

 

Claire Bateson

Claire BatesonClaire is a training and development professional. She has worked with a range of blue chip organizations and charities including: HSBC, Yorkshire Bank, Co-Operative Bank, Tarmac, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, British Telecom, NTL, British Sub-Aqua Club and United Response.

Areas of expertise include leadership and management development, in addition to specialised financial services. She is also a chief examiner, at degree level, with the Institute of Financial Services School of Finance (where she has been made a Fellow).

Prior to working as a training and development professional she was employed by NatWest Bank for twenty years in a variety of frontline retail banking roles, latterly working at the bank’s Group Management College at Heythrop Park.

Claire holds an MBA in financial services and her areas of interest include: leadership and team development, sales, sales management and coaching, assessment methodologies and processes.

 

Warren Scott

Warren ScottWarren has been developing individuals, groups and organisations for over twenty five years. In this time he has successfully completed many projects, consistently achieving high quality results and outputs, and carried out a variety of highly successful training and development programmes. He has a full range of experience from training needs analysis to design of learning interventions through to delivery and evaluation.

In this time he also has first hand experience within organisations as a leader, manager, team member, project manager and internal consultant.

Much of his work has involved influencing at senior levels and working with key stakeholders to understand the training needs and design appropriate solutions.
His experience and development has enabled him to specialise in a number of areas from a wider repertoire.
