About Us

Established in 1993, our courses and consultancy services are inspiring and engaging as standard.

We want to understand your business, its performance and its needs, so that we can design training and development solutions that deliver tangible results and positive feedback.

Why We’re Different

We don’t pre-judge and we don’t presume. We get to know your business from the ground up and we build programmes that respond to what makes you and your people unique.

Who We Are

We’re a team of experienced people development consultants. Each of us has particular interests and expertise, broadening and deepening our offer. But we also focus on consistency – and each of our consultants is capable of delivering the full suite of Cedar services.

Lindsay Muir

MANAGING DIRECTOR

“Clear but fun, encouraging but challenging, engaging and optimistic!”

Lindsay works with business leaders to shape their vision and strategy, connecting people development with business success. In the training room Lindsay helps teams and individuals develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive in their roles. Challenging and honest, our clients value his commitment to changing people and businesses for the better. Perhaps that’s why he’s built so many strong, trusting and long-lasting relationships over the years.

Lindsay is a fan of mountain and road biking and walking in the mountains.

Alistair Gibb

SENIOR CONSULTANT

“Facilitator, trainer and coach!”

Alistair focuses on helping people become more effective in their roles – on enabling them to change and make change, by creating those light bulb moments of discovery through which we identify alternative ways to do things. He’s committed to raising the professionalism of management – and creating time away from business to think more strategically. In doing so, he helps businesses improve their performance through their people, by reducing stress and the time spent on solving problems. His training and coaching is engaging, interactive and challenging – but also creates a safe space to share ideas and distil best practice.

In his spare time, Alistair likes to think that his cycling justifies being such a foodie … but fears the truth might be closer to the opposite.

Becky Powell

OFFICE MANAGER

“Secretary, Receptionist, PA, Administrator … or, more concisely, ‘Office Manager!’”

Becky is usually the first point of contact when customers either call or email Cedar Associates. She has spent much of her working life in customer-focused roles in a range of sectors – from finance to retail and banking. Since joining Cedar Associates she’s become the glue that binds our team together, and has grown into her role as the hub of the business – efficient, friendly and reliable ensuring that the rest of us are where we need to be, with the right kit and at the right time. She loves nothing more than having a chat with our customers on the phone.

Becky is the mother of two young daughters, and in what little free time she has left she is an avid user of Pinterest.

Kirsty Howard

ACCOUNTS MANANGER

“I enjoy walking the dog and curling up on the sofa with a good book!”

Kirsty is responsible for all our accounts and payroll functions. If it involves a figure and a currency symbol, Kirsty is involved. She raises sales invoices for the training we provide, and can also act as a point of contact for any queries or concerns.

She doesn’t have a great deal of free time in amongst playing taxi to two teenage daughters, but in her brief off-hours she loves to read – and likes to avoid writing about herself in too great detail!

Phil Ingle

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT

“Business will improve when people develop new behaviours … and to do that they need to know what to do and why to do it.”

As an associate consultant, Phil helps businesses develop by improving the skills and knowledge of their people. He thinks of this as a process of developing a client’s competitive edge: Phil’s specialist area is finance, and his well-planned training generates improved financial results. Phil focuses on equipping leaders to communicate better, and organisations to express their goals more clearly. In this way, Phil can best identify who wants to learn what – and what gaps there are to fill. He makes this fun – there aren’t many people who can find the humour in a balance sheet, but Phil’s one of them (no, really!).

Outside of work, Phil has a set of diverse interests that encompass musical theatre, running, tennis and motorcycles. Between these hobbies and the office, we’re told he even sees his family sometimes!

Phillip Crisp

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT

“Start with where people are now, not where you think they are or would like them to be.”

Philip is an associate consultant at Cedar, and focuses on developing the individual, teamwork and leadership skills of our customers. He helps train people at all levels to achieve sustained improvements, and is motivated by the principle that any person or organisation not learning as fast as others in their sector will be left behind. There is room for improvement in all things, and Philip both challenges and supports learners to develop – and, critically, arms them with agreed actions to apply back in their everyday workplace.

Philip loves to cycle in his spare time. He insists that he enjoys the social aspect of cycling with friends – but we’ve noticed that his solo sessions often result in great new training ideas and solutions. He may be a tad obsessed.

Rob Kelly

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT

“In-depth experience in aligning business and people strategies in order to deliver stronger business performance.”

One of our associate consultants at Cedar, Rob has been an organisation development consultant for twenty-five years – so it’s not surprise that he has a rich and deep experience in transforming culture and performance with a range of clients. He has delivered senior leadership development programmes, and coached and advised leaders, from a wide range of industrial sectors – and across the globe, in the UK, wider Europe, Asia and the USA. Rob’s a particularly valuable coaching partner for senior decision-makers, and he has significant experience in working across cultures in post-change, post-merger and post-acquisition environments. He approaches all these challenges in a straight-talking manner, backed by a natural authority which is fed by an in-depth knowledge of his subject.

Beyond the office, Rob walks, runs and canoes… but in all honesty a good chunk of his free time is spent searching up and down for his escapologist Golden Retriever!

William McKee

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT

“Curious and insightful. I pay close attention, and then offer clients something highly relevant and genuinely applicable.”

Will works with customers to identify what they need … and then sets about designing and delivering exactly that. He believes that through training and development, people become better able to do the things they need to do at work. Will loves working with groups – he’s often heard admitting he’s a little bit obsessed with how people behave at work. Will’s your man on interpersonal dynamics, and his bookshelves groan with business books covering everything from economics to psychology.

Outside of work he loves being by or on the sea, either in shorts or a wetsuit – though rarely both at the same time.

Richard Pheasant

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT

“An authentic and genuine trainer, who simply enjoys passing on skills, knowledge and information to help improve managers in what they do”

Richard has been training managers and leaders for the past 18 years in both the UK and the Arabian Gulf, helping them to improve their competencies and succeed in getting better results. He likes to keep his courses interactive, stimulating, and at the same time, practical. He has a great focus on leadership and in working with managers in this area, encouraging and developing them to be better at what they do.   He has done this with managers from numerous companies and organisations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and London.

As well as management and leadership skills, Richard delivers a range of courses to help people develop their personal soft skills.

When he is not preparing and delivering training, Richard enjoys playing golf, watching rugby and soccer, and is often involved in leadership, teaching and local church community work.

Nigel Dennis

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT

“Simply training people to behave differently is insufficient. You have to develop underlying attitudes for sustainable change.”

Nigel’s our associate consultant who specialises in developing new mindsets and approaches, in order to bring about a change in the culture of an organisation. Typically, he might tackle collaborative approaches to negotiation, managing performance and change, or improving assertiveness and self-esteem. He focuses on making sure that these changes stick – by raising learners’ awareness of the business impacts of unconscious behaviours, he teaches skills … but also changes behaviours long-term. Sensitive and supportive, Nigel gives learners the chance to practice new behaviours and really bed them in.

When he’s not in the training room, Nigel spends a lot of time restoring his classic car, a Lotus Elan +2 from the 1970s. The car originally belonged to his late father and he last travelled in it at the age of 13!
